Charlie is one of those characters. At 21 yrs he doesn’t act his age, is always ‘chipper’, involved in all the comings and goings of the yard, plays indefinitely with Wesley
like they were 2 yr olds and has to nuzzle, eat your zip, be involved and generally
'chat you up' all the time!
At 21yrs you would expect a horse to have issues and Charlie is no different. However he is the type who completely overrules any discomfort on the basis that there is so much more fun to be had elsewhere. Hence having a number of Buqi sessions where it often felt like I was being bounced away from him.
Increasingly however I have been able to make more and more connection and find more hidden problem areas where there has been a gradual release from the shoulders, the pectorals and the length of the spine. Slowly, as if testing, he has dabbled with some internal quietness and genuine relaxation. The last session (which was the sixth) proved to be the most impressive session yet with a degree of trust that allowed him to practically fall into the release of the lower back area. This area had been contentious in the past with some work having been done with osteopathy and physiotherapy. I was able to locate the binqi that was deep, deep, deep. The more I connected with it to generate movement the more he went into a stupor of relaxation, head hanging and lip drooping. As the binqi started to really release I could not hold back the most enormous of full facial yawns and very soon the owner and an observer were following suit. Finally Charlie ordained to carry out his yawning instead of us doing it for him!!!! This is more of a sign of the information in the local field of energy rather than a copycat yawn. These were big yawns. The session felt like a real breakthrough for Charlie as an individual: to find a renewed level of freedom and to find release in something that he has been holding for a long period of time.
In theory, the more he has further access into his back then the more he will be able to use the hind end, free up the shoulders and take some of the concussive forces away from the front limbs that have become
so upright with age.
