A badly fitting saddle for 5 years!

  • 6 huge spontaneous stretches during session
  • Lots of yawning, licking and chewing
  • Muscular quivers
  • One off Buqi session
  • Badly fitting saddle affects the whole horse

This 12 yr old grey Cob had back problems over the previous 4 or 5 years. His new owner had found out that the horse had suffered a badly fitting saddle also for 5 years! There were muscular knots in the trapezius muscles and longissimus muscles on both sides. The horse had been bucking under saddle and was difficult to mount. He appeared to be a very stoical and generous horse that has clearly been in considerable discomfort for a considerable amount of time. The owner was in the process of getting a made-to-measure saddle. Phew!

During the session the horse made some fabulous stretches. He stretched out through the back and out through the back leg on both sides. He stretched up through the neck twice and made an upward flexion in both hind limbs. At the end of the session he made many huge facial yawns. He was licking and chewing throughout and became very relaxed. By the end of the session he appeared to be visibly longer and relaxed in the back and topline.

The owner noticed that through the session there were many muscular quivers around his back muscles, especially near the withers and that prior to each stretch his flanks were heaving a bit as if his breathing had increased. The owner commented that the horse was very relaxed and calm with a ‘softer’ look in his eye. A week later she said that he was still very ‘chilled out’. The owner wrote to me, saying “I was really impressed with the Buqi treatment which I am convinced has helped my horse overcome his problems”.
