Buqi Therapy for Health and HealingBuqi has a role as an aid to health and healing which has the potential to affect the body system in a unique manner.
Buqi is being used therapeutically for horses
Holistic approaches to health often refer to the importance of the body, mind and spirit. These three elements may also be described as the 'gross body' (the physical, the material and the sensory), the 'subtle body' (mind, light, energy and emotions) and the 'causal body' (the formless or the expansive infinite).
Buqi therapy works with the subtle energy forces and offers us direct access to the 'subtle body' of the horse. The mind, the emotions and the energy system, all being interrelated elements of the subtle body, are the 'way in' to the physical-ness of the horse. We can, and do, have an impact on the physical system through the route of the energy system to create positive change and health benefits.
To offer an over-simplified explanation of how the physical and emotional interrelate we can consider the following: Stress and worry (an emotional trigger) is known to be able to induce a colic (a physical response). A horse whose stress levels are ongoing through perhaps travel, competition or management (emotional & physical triggers), may result in a suppressed immune system leading to other systemic conditions, like a respiratory virus (a physical response). A horse who is ridden or educated poorly, leads to emotional and mental tension (emotional/mental triggers) which undeniably leads to physical tension, negative holding patterns and ongoing resistance (physical consequences) to the eventual breakdown of tendons, ligaments or other (physical response). Aside from a direct physical trauma (like a fall or impact) the physical body remains dependant on the health of the rest of the system.
Buqi taps directly into the mind/body link and has an effect on the physical by bringing the emotional system into balance. Similarly, Buqi can have an effect on the physical system by clearing the old information, or energetic disharmony, of physical injury or breakdown by working to clear binqi and in evoking the natural healing responses of the body.
Often, owners who come to Buqi are to be heard saying, "My horse hasn't been quite right since x,y or z happened". Perhaps there was a specific physical injury which is otherwise healed and fully functional or an emotional trauma, an unknown event or apparent quirky behaviour.
Even after a physical or emotional injury or trauma has passed a residual energetic scar invariably remains. Because of the way Buqi connects with the system it is possible to release this 'old information' or to change the held pattern or frequency (binqi) which otherwise holds it in stasis. Chronic stagnation can be given movement, old tension which has remained can be released and it may be possible to invoke a healing response on a cellular level.
The clearing of binqi is an important part of bringing about healing.
The horse is a deeply emotional and sensitive being and as such is subject to emotional trauma and stress; the horse is required to live a life much more complex than nature intended and the horse copes the best way he can but without the sense of safety he might enjoy in a herd situation. Many horses have had a less than perfect start, they may have been overtly abused, suffered the consequences of unintentional ignorance or are plainly not coping with the stresses of modern requirements (stabling, travelling, competing, etc).
When you watch a Buqi session you can see the level and depth of relaxation which switches off the 'fight/flight' response and encourages the parasympathetic nervous responses, ie a dropped heart rate, an increase in digestion, a reduction in adrenalin, a relaxed and peaceful demeanour and bringing the self-healing or self-repair systems into play.
With many of the cases described above Buqi has proved to have beneficial effect in aiding recovery or alleviation of symptoms.
Good management and appropriate veterinary care is, without question, necessary to uphold a solid base level of equine health and well-being. These address the material needs of the gross body, without which any therapy would otherwise pale into insignificance.
In all cases good management, veterinary treatment, saddle-fitting, nutrition, etc is a necessary and vital part of the process of recovery and ongoing well-being.
Buqi for Horses is not intended to be used in place of veterinary care or good management. Only a qualified Veterinarian can legally diagnose, treat or prescribe for an equine. Buqi can be considered as a complementary or alternative health therapy and not as a means of allopathic care.
